IRIS: Social Distance Enforcer

AI-powered Social Distancing System, IRIS is a pint-sized beast. This compact plug and play device is capable of detecting social distancing violations up to a distance of 25 feet. This can be deployed in market places, shopfronts, commercial centers. The system instantly warns violators and alerts stakeholders for effective enforcement of social distancing to prevent the spreading of COVID19.

Tamil Nadu police department was awarded SKOCH award for deploying IRIS to enforce social distancing in the fight against COVID.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

This device needs to be fixed just like a CCTV camera in the location that needs to be monitored. The field of view needs to be set appropriately to ensure maximum coverage for better utilization.

Configuration:

​

  • Power connection needs to be provided at the point of deployment.

  • Minimum distance tolerated can be modified according to the location and can be configured at the time of deployment.

  • The system can send alerts for chronic and higher than normal volume of violations – recipients need to be configured from the back-end.

  • Data dashboards, daily/periodic reports and trends are shared by the system over automated emails – recipients need to be configured from the back-end.

Working:

​

The device comes to life once it is powered up.

  • The device continuously monitors the location through a powerful camera.

  • When acceptable social distance is violated, the device sounds an alarm and also makes audio announcements requesting people to maintain social distance

  • On sustained violations, when people don’t move even after sounding the alarm, the device increases the intensity of the alarm and makes audio announcements that are harsh in tone.

  • If the violations are by a group of people, the systems makes more aggressive warning sounds.

  • SMS alerts are sent to the police respondents on detection of sustained and high frequency violations

Data & Reporting:

​

The system has a central platform through which, data from multiple devices is assimilated and more meaningful data is shared with stakeholders.

  • Daily reports of violations with leaderboards

  • Weekly and periodic reports on trends across locations

  • Interactive graphic chards for stakeholders to get a clear perspective
